Mark. 7:6-13

  1. He answered and said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

  2. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men.'

  3. "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men."

  4. He said to them, "You well neglect the commandment of God, in order to keep your tradition.

  5. "For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.'

  6. "But you say, 'If a man says to his father or mother, "Anything of mine you might have been helped by is Corban..."'" (that is to say, offered to God),

  7. "then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother,

  8. "making the words of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do."
