1 Chronicles 5:1-2  (Divrei Hayamim Aleph 5:1-2)

1. These were the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel. He was the firstborn, but his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, son of Israel, because Reuben defiled his father's bed. So the genealogy is not listed according to birthright.
2. And it is Judah who prevailed among his brothers, and a ruler came from him, even though the birthright was Joseph's.
